This article is a result of the confluence of an arrogant, abusive, and autocratic Seventh-day Adventist pastor, the ignorant church he pastors, and an indifferent local conference administration. The rights of members of the Seventh-day Adventist Church have been trampled upon, scripture treated as if it doesn’t exist, and church policy has been ignored, with members being abused as a consequence.

The pastor is Elder Marlving P. Charlet, a Haitian immigrant, who pastors his church in the spirit of Francois Duvalier (Papa Doc) and Jean-Claude Duvalier (Baby Doc). Cross him, and the Bible, Spirit of Prophecy, and Seventh-day Adventist church policy mean nothing. And Elder Charlet has no fear of his employer, the Northeastern Conference of Seventh-day Adventists (Northeastern.)

Brooklyn Temple of Seventh-day Adventists (Brooklyn Temple) is the church Elder Charlet pastors. Elder Charlet can pretty much dictate what he wants at Brooklyn Temple as most members are ignorant of the Bible, Spirit of Prophecy, and the Seventh-day Adventist Church Manual. Those who feel or know that Elder Charlet is wrong are too docile to oppose him thus giving him the freedom to pastor autocratically.

Northeastern is indifferent to any complains sent to them concerning Elder Charlet’s behavior. Elder Charlet, when told that some members were planning to send letters of complaint to Northeastern stated that Northeastern would simply crumple the letters and throw them in the garbage. There seems to be some truth to that statement which will be dealt with in subsequent articles.

The principal administrative officers of Northeastern are the President, Elder Trevor H. C. Baker, the Executive Secretary, Elder Larry Bailey, and the Treasurer, Elder Ebenezer Agboka.

Collectively this administration has stood by doing nothing while Elder Charlet violated the rights of members according to the Bible, Spirit of Prophecy, and Seventh-day Adventist Church Manual. This includes the tacit approval of Elder Charlet violating the rights of American citizens to freedom of speech, a civil rights violation.

Elder Charlet has made slanderous and libelous statements against members of his congregation placing Northeastern at risk of civil lawsuits as Elder Charlet is an employee of Northeastern.

Our contributors will deal with all these situations over the next several seeks with the hope that there will be spiritual changes to the way Northeastern does business.
